Casorati, I love painting

Casorati, I love painting

"Casorati, I love painting" is a twenty-minute documentary which accompanies the visitor on a journey of discovery of one of the most refined artists of the last century, offering stimulating tools to delve further into the personal exhibition entitled "Felice Casorati – Collections and Exhibitions in Europe and the Americas", curated by Giorgina Bertolino at the Ferrero Foundation in Alba. A lot of the film is dedicated to the profound relationship between Casorati and his adopted city, Turin, where he moved after the tragic death of his father. He himself tells us about the visual and existential relationship which he enjoys with "this grid-like, tidy city, it seems just the sort of place where I should live", a city which sees him as an established and undisputed protagonist of its artistic and cultural scene: from his friendship with the young intellectual Piero Gobetti to the invaluable role he played within the magical cultural buzz which gathered around industrial figure of Riccardo Gualino, as well as the creation of a cosmopolitan painting school where he would meet his future wife Daphne Maugham.
