November 1942.
The Italian army occupies several departments in the south-east of France.
In the Alps, thousands of Jews take refuge in these Italian areas. It creates an oasis of peace, safe from the Nazis and Vichy... until September 8, 1943. Faced with the arrival of the Germans, the Italian soldiers flee with the Jews through the mountains, an exodus full of pitfalls. Thanks to letters, memories and extraordinary private photographs, this documentary retraces these events through the love story between Rima Dridso Levin, a Russian Jew, and Federico Strobino, an Italian officer.
